New Rules

It’s all marketing

On 10, Sep 2010 | No Comments | In New Rules | By David Horne

It used to be easy to hide. Employees for an organization could hide in a back office position like accounting, human resources, or shipping and leave the “marketing” up to the marketing and sales folks. Oh, how times have changed.

Every employee is in marketing. Everything your organization does is marketing.

Customers and prospects don’t see individual parts of a company. They see the brand as a whole. How and who answers the phone, writes the checks, and takes out the trash is marketing. Your emails, stationary, and website are marketing. Your customers, partners, and vendors are a part of marketing too. You can’t escape it. Any interaction direct or indirect is either appreciating or depreciating your brand. There is greater responsibility and greater rewards. Just ask Zappos, Virgin, Starbucks, Knockaround, or Evernote.

This is great news! You now have more opportunities to blow your audiences’ and customers’ minds.
